ETHICS IN MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPY
Robert Henley Woody & Jane DiVita Woody (Eds.)
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, 2001
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The reader will learn the domains of activity in which therapists engage; the parameters which must be considered in defining what constitutes ethical practice; and what is considered within the realm of ethical practice in this current context, what is clearly outside of ethical practice, and where are the gray areas that require special attention and care.
This book is a starting point for thinking and talking about the ethical issues that arise in treating couples and families. It offers markers for ethical practice in a number of areas, but is not simply a “how-to” book, nor a book with easy and defined answers. It provides a model for building a conceptual map for ethical practice for treating couples and families.
Robert Henley Woody, Ph.D., Sc.D., J.D., is Professor of Psychology and Director of the School Psychology Training Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and an attorney in private practice, and a Fellow of AAMFT.
Jane DiVita Woody, Ph.D., M.S.W., is Professor of Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
